Aureli has recently been certified to produce and package the Fucino plateau IGP carrot IGP . Recognized with CE Regulation n. 148 of 15 February 2007 , the Fucino carrot , is the only variety which obtained the European IGP . The production area is the entire Fucino Plateau , in the district of L'Aquila.The production data of the Fucino plateau IGP carrot are approximately 1.5 million tons per year , which amount represents on average 30 % of national production , 5% of European production and 1 % of the world.The Fucino plateau IGP carrot , during the marketing , must be in the form of the root mainly cylindrical with a rounded tip , no root hairs and the absence of deep scars in the emission points of the scalp, smooth skin and bright orange color of the whole root.The wide availability of product has also encouraged the construction of processing plants for the fresh convenience, for juices or purees and concentrates or even dehydrates and powders.This has helped to create a system that combines the excellent characteristics of the soil and climate ,with the high degree of specialization of industry stakeholders and the wealth of processing facilities .
